It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major film company and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is why Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
